International Policy News, Analysis and Updates From the World’s Leading Experts

International policy news, analysis and updates from the world’s leading experts.

For more than four decades, Foreign Policy has provided readers with insightful analyses of global events and trends in politics and international affairs. The publication has evolved from a quarterly academic journal into a bimonthly magazine and expanded its presence abroad with editions in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Middle East. Throughout its history, Foreign Policy has been owned and operated by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

A central theme of the field of political science is how sovereign nations and other international actors interact. These interactions can take place at multiple levels of analysis, including the domestic level of the individual state, the regional level of intergovernmental organizations, and the global level of international relations.

International policy is the formal conduct of foreign affairs by a government through a ministry of foreign affairs and a network of embassies, consulates, and other international offices. While diplomacy is considered the primary function of a foreign ministry, other official acts include promoting exports, attracting foreign investment, addressing economic issues, and addressing global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and terrorism.
